I've been calling the kids out on their sin by having them recite the fruits of the Spirit in discipline circumstances. For example, when one yells at another over selfish motives, I simply ask him, "Ryan, what are the fruits of the Spirit?" His response (as quickly as he can talk) is: "love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such things..." Then I ask him, "Tell me which of those you just practiced." Then he shamefully says, "none." Yay, Holy Spirit! We continue our conversation with examples of how to practice the fruits in future situations. It's great!

Well, tonight there are many friends over & they are enjoying some bagles and cream cheese. One of the friends shared her bagel with another friend, and my kiddo started reciting the fruits of the Spirit. Then she said, "Kindness! Rachel was just kind to Courtney!" So sweet!

But here's the funny part. I asked Courtney (the friend) if she goes to church. She told us that she used to go to church when she was three (she is now 5). Then she said, "Now my mom doesn't take me to church. Except to wash cars. That's not fun."

hahahaha! I thought it was so funny!
